NEW VoIP ANALYSIS SOFTWARE FOR THE TALAN
Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone systems present a new form of security risk to communications. With new enhancements built into the TALAN software interface, users can now test internet protocol (IP) packet traffic on VoIP phones and systems. VoIP data collected by the TALAN software includes Source and Destination Mac Addresses; header type; statistics - total packets; packet rate; peak rate and run time. Users can also define advanced filtering options. Data can be stored and exported to USB or Flash as data files for further analysis, sharing and reporting.
The TALAN Telephone and Line Analyzer provides a complete integrated suite of tools to analyze, inspect, and test digital telephone lines (and other wiring) for taps and other eavesdropping devices.
The TALAN incorporates several types of telephone line tests including common tests such as voltage, current, resistance, and capacitance tests, as well as NLJD, FDR Frequency Domain Reflectometry, and Digital Demodulation technology into a single piece of equipment. Additionally, the TALAN utilizes an automatic internal pair switching matrix to automatically perform tests on all pair combinations. The ability to perform several different tests allows the user to compare the results of multiple tests on multiple phone lines, quickly identifying any potentially threatening anomalies.
The TALAN represents a breakthrough in telephone line testing. There currently is no other product available with the same capabilities.
Features
Combines multiple testing capabilities into a single piece of equipment
Automatic internal pair switching matrix performs tests on all pair combinations
Audio Oscilloscope with active input (20Hz to 20KHz)
DPA-7000 Advancements
Digital Demodulation to confirm that the telephone line is not passing audio
Frequency Domain Reflectometer (FDR) to check for taps on the line
Line Non-Linear Junction Detector (NLJD) Functionality to detect electronics connected to a line
NLJD Line Trace Probe for tracing wires and locating electronics
Multi-Test Database System provides the ability to perform multiple tests, on all pair combinations, storing data in a database for comparison against other lines and historical comparison

TALAN Data Viewer Software
The TALAN Data Viewer Software is a separate PC application that provides the ability to organize, analyze saved test sequence data and charts for report writing. Moreover, the TALAN Data Viewer software provides the ability to compare multiple phones/targets on the same chart allowing the user to quickly identify any anomalies compared to other phones tested. TALAN Data Viewer Software is compatible with Windows 2000 or later operating systems (including Windows 7). After installing TALAN Data Viewer Software, .TAL files generated on the TALAN, can be saved to the Compact Flash Card or a USB device, and then transferred to a PC where files can then be accessed by the TALAN Data Viewer Software.
Organize data for report writing
Compare test results from multiple targets in the same view
Export data and chart graphics
Preplan test sequence targets and location files
This latest TALAN update enhances previous revisions.
VoIP:
• Added VoIP Analysis to Manual test tab. This provides access to the TALAN VoIP Analyzer software package.
DMM: • DMM zero-level calibration is now available on the unit.
• DMM calibration provides a more accurate compensation on older boards.
• Warning message displayed when trying to use the banana plugs for Current measurements.
• Best pair for voltage, resistance or capacitance test is selected if last test was for current on single wire.
Audio: • Different settings for analog and digital audio testing are preserved.
• Automatically mute the external speaker in RF Level test if headphones aren’t detected.
• Add additional .NGX files (digital systems) for Nortel and Avaya consoles and ESI-100 and Polycom phones.
• Define long and short names for each phone system for more accurate display.
Help: • Updated Help files to match current code including new pictures.
Generic GUI: • MUTE status indication is added to top of all system test screen.
• An Options Lock has been added to the Test Options screen.
• Balanced pairs information is preset and preserved in a file following power cycle.
• Balanced pairs are displayed on the Summary dashboard instead of the unsupported pair status.
